IGPOTY 2021 - Still Life Category

This image titled ‘ Autumn & The Pomegranate’ was awarded Highly Commended by IGPOTY 2021. The depiction of flowers, food and drink throughout the ages often carried symbolic meanings. In this image the use of the pomegranate connects to the story of the consumption of the pomegranate seeds by Persephone (Greek Mythology) which brought about her cyclical decent to Hades and rise to earth and condemned her to stay in the underworld between autumn and winter.

‘Gin & Tonic’, Finalist in the IGPOTY Still Life Category, is included in the virtual curated exhibition of the 14th International Garden Photographer of the Year.

Due to the restrictions of the Covid -19 pandemic, this took place online.
