Magical-Circumstantial Exhibition 2023
Coningsby Gallery, 30 Tottenham Street, London https://artfullframe.com/exhibition/magical-circumstantial/
The Exhibition Magical Circumstantial is the fortuitous encounter between two independent coincidences, a sort of confluence of circumstances, which produces a short circuit, a burst of meaning or the effect of a revelation.
This still life image of Peony flowers uses empty gin bottles and glassware of different shapes and sizes to display wilting and ageing blooms of a pastel palate. This gently and joyously depicts the aftermath of a party where there is always one who wants to continue to seek the light, shine and defy the inevitable whilst the wiser members of the bunch are prepared to skulk into the shadows.

Carpo
The goddess and personification of Autumn, Carpo represented the time of ripening and abundance. This overlaid image is my vision of an altar to a goddess with wine, luscious pomegranate and opulent decor to give thanks for the harvest and the wealth of good fortune.

Harvest
Summertime 2021 was a summer like no other - travel bans were in place due to the global pandemic, the fear of Covid ruled and the complicated testing regime for overseas travel had overtaken a desire to seek out distant climes and places. So I holidayed in Suffolk, a beautiful county the UK that I had never visited previously.
I was struck by the tranquillity of life, the large open spaces and the calmness of the farmlands as the countryside readied itself for Harvest. This set of 3 black and white images are not loud and brash, they study the gentle passing of time over 7 days in the summertime.
